UNDERGROUND GROUP CLASSES AND CLASS RATES Class Schedule Class Description Kettlebell Conditioning Combat Muay Thai Kickboxing Olympic Judo Ju Jitsu Russian Kettlebell Conditioning class This is a total body workout for both men and women of all training levels from beginner to advanced, that combines strength training, muscle toning and building and cardiovascular conditioning in one complete package. Previous experience is not necessary. The class incorporates a wide variety of tools to achieve its objectives, including but not limited to: Russian Kettlebells, Medicine Balls, Dumbbells, Barbells, Jump Ropes, Gymnastic Rings, Pull-Up Bars and some other equipment. Russian kettlebell conditioning classes are taught by Dina Yarkina who has more than 5 years of teaching experience with kettlebells, and Greg Mihovich, national kettlebell speaker and presenter, as well as the author of "Iron Beast -- Total Body Strength and Power Training with Russian Kettlebells" DVD series. Gear recommended: workout clothes, lifting gloves are optional. The class is conducted bare feet, however if you bring a pair of clean spare shoes, you can wear them. The best shoes for Strength & Conditioning type of workouts are actually wrestling shoes or Chuck Taylors type shoes with flat sole. Combat Muay Thai Kickboxing class This class guides you through technique, tactics and conditioning methods of the most effective stand-up and clinch methods of unarmed combat today -- The Art Of Eight Limbs, as it's called in its Motherland Thailand. Previous experience is not necessary. Muay Thai Kickboxing is a unique blend of a 2000-year old martial art with a rich tradition, powerful and spectacular full-contact ring sport and one of the most effective strength-endurance and cardiovascular workouts you can find. The originators of Muay Thai were ancient Thai warriors that tested it’s effectiveness on the battlefields and, later, in the ring. Today the Royal Thai Army, as well as members of US NAVY SEALS and CIA, use it for unarmed combat training. Muay Thai is famous for it’s explosive kicks, powerful knee and elbow strikes, as well as its boxing arsenal along with standing wrestling and throws. All of the body’s natural tools are utilized to create an effective and efficient weapon. The Thai system of unarmed combat and the conditioning it required for its success are unparalleled for people of all sizes, both males and females. You will learn punching, kicking, kneeing, elbowing, clinching and throwing applications and then apply them in progressively more challenging drills and exercises designed to make your fighting reflexes a second nature. Sparring is for intermediate and advanced students only and it is optional. The class incorporates a variety of equipment including, but not limited to Thai pads, focus mitts, belly shields, kicking shields, dummies, banana bags, clinch bags, boxing bags, jumping ropes and other equipment. Combat Muay Thai classes are taught by Greg Mihovich with over 10 years of training and 6 years of teaching experience, as well is over a dozen full contact Muay Thai, San Da and boxing fights under his belt. Recommended gear: shorts, t-shirt, mandatory groin protector and mouthpiece. Eventually you will need to get shin guards, gloves and headgear, if you get serious about the sport. Muay Thai kickboxing promotional video (right click and save as) Olympic Judo class This class guides you through technique, tactics and conditioning methods of the most effective and technical jacket wrestling arts in the world today. Previous experience is not necessary. You will learn various takedowns and throws designed to quickly bring your opponent to the ground utilizing your opponent's clothes against him, as well as a great variety of control positions, escapes and submission holds, such as chokes and armbars that ensure your victory once you get there. The big part of the curriculum is basic tumbling, as well the ability to fall in any direction without hurting yourself and while maintaining your composure. Special conditioning methods are also employed to prepare your body for grappling activities. Olympic Judo classes are taught by Boris Byzhak -- four time USSR Champion and European Champion, former member and then coach of the USSR Junior Competition Team. Boris has more than twenty years of world class competing and teaching Judo experience. Recommended gear: Judo gi (kimono). However your first few classes you can start without it. Olympic Judo promotional video (right click and save as) Ju Jitsu class This class guides you through technique, tactics and conditioning methods of the most effective grappling methods of unarmed combat today -- Ju Jitsu. Previous experience is not necessary. You will learn various takedown and throws designed to quickly bring your opponent to the ground, as well as a myriad of control positions, escapes and submission holds that ensure your victory once you get there. The big part of the curriculum is basic tumbling, as well the ability to fall in any direction without hurting yourself and while maintaining your composure. Special conditioning methods are also employed to prepare your body for grappling activities. Ju Jitsu classes are taught by Joe Viz -- brown belt in Ju Jitsu and second degree black belt in judo with over 30 years of training and teaching experience. Recommended gear: gi (kimono), however your first few classes you can start without it. Wrestling shoes and ear protectors are optional.
